🏀🔥 Congratulations to the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Players of the Week for Martinsville High School: Rebecca Adams & Terry Smith! 🔥🏀
Rebecca “Becca” Adams, senior shooting guard, has been a major offensive threat from beyond the arc this season 💪 She’s always ready to step up — whether coming off the bench or in the starting lineup — and recently knocked down 4 three-pointers to help lead her team. Her team-first attitude and willingness to do whatever is needed have made her a key part of this year’s success! 🎯
Terry Smith, freshman forward, continues to make a strong impact with his effort, awareness, and physical presence on the floor. He does a great job battling inside, rebounding, and creating extra possessions with his toughness and high motor. Terry is always in the right spot, plays hard every possession, and brings consistent energy on both ends of the court, making him an important part of the team’s success. 🌟
Keep up the great work, Rebecca and Terry! We’re proud of you both and can’t wait to see all you accomplish the rest of the season! 👏 This award was presented by agent Jody Brown Engle.

🏀 Congratulations to the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Players of the Week: Kase Lunsford & Denver McDonald! 🏀
⭐ Kase, a senior guard, brings toughness every time he steps on the floor. While he may not always fill up the scorebook, his impact is undeniable — setting the tone defensively, doing the little things, and providing energy when his team needs it most. His work ethic, physical play, and team-first mindset make him a leader and spark for this squad.
⭐ Denver, a freshman forward, has been a work in progress all season and has really come out of her shell over the past few weeks. She has locked in on the defensive side of the ball and shown a strong willingness to do whatever the team needs. Her effort and growth as a freshman highlight just how bright the future is.
🔥 Hard work and growth on full display — keep up the amazing work! These awards were presented by agent Jody Brown Engle.

Congratulations to the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Players of the Week for Martinsville High School: Alejandro Gomez & Jaycie Latham! 👏
⭐ A leader on and off the court, senior Jaycie has been a key part of Martinsville girls basketball since her junior year. She steps up in big moments, takes charges, and does whatever it takes to win. We’re so proud of the young woman and athlete she’s become.
🔥 As the team’s leading scorer, freshman Alejandro brings confidence, toughness, and constant pressure on the offensive end. His work ethic sets him apart — he shows up ready to compete every day and has already earned the trust of his teammates and coaches.

In Mrs. Adam's Geometry classes, they have been studying triangles and have learned that a triangle is the sturdiest shape. With this knowledge, students built truss bridges out of craft sticks and hot glue. Yesterday, they tested their bridges to see how much weight/pressure each bridge could withstand. Mr. Cauthen lent us a fish weight and Mr. McDonald helped use his strength to test each bridge! The sturdiest bridge held up to 51 pounds of pressure before cracking, while the smallest weight held was 18 pounds of pressure!

Ms. Miller's 8th graders learned how to write strong concluding lines for their expository essays.
Students took a paper with the ending lines of stories or books and matched them to the introductory lines they connect to. We then analyzed the strategies good authors use to create writing magic and practiced writing our own.

Martinsville ISD has been closely monitoring weather and road conditions throughout the day.
While some improvement has been observed, there are still areas with ice on roadways and bridges. These areas are expected to refreeze overnight, creating hazardous travel conditions for Tuesday morning.
Based on this assessment and with safety as our top priority, Martinsville ISD will be closed on Tuesday, January 27.
At this time, we anticipate returning to a regular schedule on Wednesday, January 28, pending further evaluation of conditions.
Please stay warm and safe Pirates.
Thank you,
Will Cauthen
Martinsville ISD Superintendent

🏀 Congratulations to the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Players of the Week for Martinsville High School: Ryder Dillard & Chelby Williams! 🏀
⭐ Ryder, a senior forward, brings toughness, effort, and consistency every time he steps on the floor. He averaged 5.5 points and 10 rebounds per game, but his impact goes far beyond the stat sheet. Ryder does the dirty work—battling in the paint, crashing the boards, and creating extra possessions for his team. His work ethic, leadership, and unselfish play set the tone for Martinsville basketball. Off the court, Ryder continues to excel in the classroom and represents his program the right way.
⭐ Chelby, a starting post, has been the rock of this team all season. Her constant energy, toughness, and determination are contagious and help drive her teammates every game. She leads by example, plays with heart, and brings an intensity that makes everyone around her better.
👏 Congratulations to Ryder and Chelby on a well-deserved Player of the Week honor! Keep up the great work! These awards were presented by agent Jody Brown Engle.
